In today’s Gospel, John the Baptist calls Jesus the “Lamb of God” and the “Son of God.” He is making it clear that Jesus’ mission is to proclaim salvation to all the nations.
Jesus is the light that brings hope to a troubled world where people seek change in order to live in peace and harmony. God’s mission for the church is to be that instrument of reconciliation lasts through all times.
We are called to open our hearts and not let it become hardened by the difficulties and challenges of our lives. When we see each other as sisters and brothers, God reigns in our midst.
As we commemorate the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr., we are called to be the dream of God. This dream aims at seeking and finding the face of God in everyone we meet. This is Jesus’ mission for us and the entire world.
How can we witness to Jesus’ mission in the world by what we say and do?
As a light to the nations, we are to be servants of the Lord who are called to be more intentional about reconciling the world to God. The gift of reconciling ourselves with God is not just for one religion but it must extend to all peoples of the world.
